People can do curious or odd things no matter what their age. It is surprising how enterprising human can be. There are the so-called Darwin Awards for people whose foolish acts catch up with them before they contribute to the gene pool. Lucky for us all. For an example, look to the man who was working in a wire protective cage ten stories up a metal pole; he sawed off the bolts that attached his wire cage. Or, turn to the story of a man who fulfilled his urban legend dream of riding his lawn chair suspended from helium balloons. He took a cell phone with GPS with him in case he got lost so he could call for help and tell his rescuers where he was. Winds sent him far out to sea where he perished without a peep. He had never bothered to learn how to use his fancy but complicated GPS cell phone gadget. |
