Another scam that seniors and baby boomers should be aware of and avoid is the so-called Grandparent Scam.
In this scam, a elderly couple or grandparent receives a call supposedly from a grandchild, who is usually in another country, and in trouble. Wiring money will get the grandchild “out of trouble” but all that happens is the grandparents lose their money.
It doesn’t occur to the grandparents that their voice on the phone is an impostor. The scam takes advantage of grandparents’ generosity and their desire to see their grandchildren out of trouble.
We are noticing that senior citizens and baby boomers are reporting these scams from over the country, so this scam is becoming widespread.
All senior citizens should be on guard and, baby boomers, please talk to your parents if they are still alive and alert them to not be fooled by this con.
